  • Antabuse (disulfiram) does not work very well for the treatment of alcoholism; this is primarily because alcoholics don't like to take the medication as it makes them sick when they drink.
  • An average sized adult can eliminate the alcohol that is contained in a regular sized twelve ounce can of beer in a hour; if an individual drinks more alcohol than their body can eliminate, their blood alcohol content level will automatically go up.
  • About 20% of teens are "problem drinkers." Problem drinking can result in getting drunk, having accidents related to alcohol use, or getting into trouble with the law, family members, friends or school due to alcohol use.
  • The number of college students who do not drink alcohol has increased to approximately 20%.
